LO4.2: Improvement Evaluation
After we received our audience feedback from the people who watched our film through the questionnaire they filled in, we discovered that a possible improvement we could make was that while Connor was talking to the therapist, we could add more shot reverse shots to create a more fluid conversation and be able to see both characters reactions.
We also need to make the lighting more consistent. Since we used mainly natural lighting, which is unreliable, and filmed over multiple days, the lighting was inconsistent due to weather changes and time changes. We could do this by closing the blinds and using lighting equipment to get more consistent lighting throughout our short film.
Another issue with our short film is the audio. This is due to background noise and the fact that all of the alters voices are recorded separately which makes it sound less fluid like a proper conversation would be. we could have fixed this by recording all of the voices together. this would be better for the target audience since it would make it sound more natural.
However, we did have our strengths. Some examples of those being our use of mise-en-scene elements of locations and props to add to our narrative. We emailed the school counsellor to ask her if we could film in her room to make it more authentic to a real therapy office. This is effective for the target audience as it makes it more recognisable and realistic. The prop of the clip board makes the therapist seem more professional.
Another one of our strengths is our use of different shot types such as forward tracking and close up shots. The tracking forward shot follows Connor on the way to his therapy session and the close up shots show items in the room. We do this to make our film more engaging for our audience
