LO3.3: Audio

Image
To begin editing our audio we clicked the edit clip in adobe audition. This loaded the clips into adobe audition to allow us to begin editing. However when we put them back into premiere pro we how to export them and then import them back into premiere pro. While editing the audio, one of our goals reduce background noises such as the hum that the microphone picked up. This noise occurred because we didn't have access to  lavalier microphones (microphones that clip on shirts)  so we had to use on camera microphones which picked up more background noise since they were further away from the actors. We did this by clicking on the Denoise option on Adobe Audition which allowed us to remove the hum while keeping the frequency consistent. We also wanted to get rid of any sharp noises and make our film a more consistent volume.  We used Adobe Auditions Parametric Equaliser to keep the frequency consistent throughout the short film.  We did this by manually dragging an...

LO3.2: Evidence of Editing

IMPORTING FOOTAGE AND THEIR TIMECODES These are screenshots of our importing our footage onto Adobe Premiere Pro and our editing process. In shot #5029, the tracking forward shot of Cam walking to the door, we chose to play the clip from 00:03 to 00:17. we did this because that was the most relevant part of the shot ad fit in best with the other clips that we had. We did this by finding the time in the software and using the razor tool to cut the clip at the desired time. We also did this to shot #5228, a medium shot of the cupboard with games on. We used the same method to cut this clip from 00:05 to 00:13 as this was the best part of the shot and was the length that we needed. This makes our film more enjoyable for our audience and makes it run smoother. Special Effects We started off by adding the Adobe Premiere Pro transition 'dip to black', which is part of the dissolve transitions, at the beginning and end of our short film. At the beginning of our short film it fades fro...

LO3.1: Offline edit

Image
This is the offline edit of our short film.we have the clips in order but we haven't added any special effects. We also have not changed the audio. OFFLINE EDIT Our Life - Offline Edit STORYBOARD This is our story board. Our film differed slightly from this storyboard in a couple of ways. These are: We decided to add short flashes of the therapy room to show Connor having flashbacks to when he was there previously as he was walking towards the room. We decided to end the film with the clock as well as starting the film with the clock rather than go back to a shot of the therapist at the end. We changed some of the camera movements from our storyboard and added some camera movements and shot types to our film that we hadn't included.

LO3.1: Edit Decision List

This is our groups edit decision list. It has the clip numbers, shot types, a brief description of what the clip is, the frame rate and the time codes for which part of the clips we will be using.

LO3.1: Shot Log

This is our groups shot log. we wrote the numbers of the clips that we used for our rushes and the actual film.

LO2.3: Textual Analysis of Rushes

In this report I will be discussing how we created meaning using different production techniques within our rushes. This will include techniques such as mine-en-scene and editing. I will also discuss how this links to the genre of our short film through conventions.  Our short film is about how Connor, our main character, is going to a therapy session. The genre of this film is Psychological drama. We used the mise-en-scene element, location, to portray this to our audience. This links to Jason Mittell's genre theory which states that genres are exploited by producers so that their projects are financially successful. This is because a lot of psychological films are set in therapy rooms which makes it not only successful but also recognisable to the genre. In our short film we use shot types such as POV and over the shoulder POV shots. this makes the audience feel included like they are a part of the film. this links to Steve Neale's theory o...

LO2.2: Evaluation of the Rushes

In our rushes for our short film we have limited number of characters which is a convention of a short film as it makes it easier for people to understand and keep up with since the story is compressed into a short amount of time. Another convention we include is the reveal where we reveal to the audience that our character has dissociative identity disorder. This keeps the film interesting for the audience and allows us to start the film with a slight air of mystery. Since it is a short film it would have a small budget if we were to make it professionally since the film is short, it won't take as much time or equipment to film as it would if it was a full length film meaning that the budget would be smaller. Our film is targeted more toward a niche audience like many short films are since short films are generally focused on one specific topic rather than multiple more generic topics like the majority of full length films are which could be to do with the fact that they cos a lot...
